Busy little bee’s we are, gliding from one flower to to the next. I miss the bees. My next door neighbor, who passed away a few years ago had honey bees. The boxes (not looking up the official word) were located right on the fence line that divides the property, just a few feet from my raised bed veggie garden. In those days my garden was always humming wit the sound of bees. We still get the bees, just not as many, and it shows. The more bees, the greater the pollination and the more bountiful the harvest. Everything in the garden benefits from bees. I always plant a few flowers with the veggies, just because I think they are pretty, and even they are less buxom than when the bees lived in boxes just a few feet away. Makes me want to take up bee keeping. Ah!… now there’s an idea. I may still do it yet.

12 to 15 – Moderne Collection – Like the busy little bees, I have been filling bottles. The new 15ml bottles for the Moderne Collection Eau De Perfumes. As you can see from the photo they are not all that different in style than the 12ml bottle. Just a tad taller and most importantly they fit into the same size canister as the 12ml. The good news here is that the price has remained the same. A 12ml EDP that sold for 30.00 is now a 15ml EDP that sells for 30.00. I can’t say that we will not raise prices at some point in the future. But for now and the foreseeable future the price will remain the same. Most of the 12mls have been replaced by the 15’s, and the ones still not showing up in the drop down menus will change eventually. It is just a matter of getting around to it. We have been exceptionally busy, and the Moderne Collection perfumes have never been more popular. Moroccan Orange, Violets & Rainwater, Acoustic Flower, Daybreak Violin and Genus Orchidaceae (the springy summery ones) are our best sellers right now, and I have had to increase the batch size to keep up. I am so pleased that everyone is enjoying these perfumes. In the natural collection: Tobacco & Tulle continues to be the top seller, even though some would consider it a fall scent. Pink Praline, Vanillaville, Grand Canyon, Sinti and Blood Orange & Vetiver are also still at the top of the list, in the EDP’s.

And if you have not noticed we have a new background for the soivohle.com website. Yay! finally got that finished and I do like it this time. Looks like a keeper, and it is so cheerful and perfumish!…

Mexicali Rose – I realized that I was a bit ambitious in my desire to release a rose trio. Even though one of them the Pink Button Rose made a brief appearance last year, I was still biting off more than I could chew, so as a kindness to myself I am gearing down a bit and concentrating on the Mexicali Rose for summer.. I am also working on a natural rose for the fall ” A Rose for Beacon Free” and although I do love my roses, I am just going to take it one rose at a time. Pink Button Rose will return soon, but not as a new release, just a reformulation. Mexicali Rose is not new either, at least in theory and somewhat on paper. I had started working on this rose several years ago at the same time as Sinti, but got sidetracked and never finished building the formula. I am ready to test now, and am making a larger batch this week. I love this rose. It feeds my appetite for Mexican, but in a strange and unusual way. It is not a full out gourmand, but has notes of Cilantro, Cinnamon and Chocolate. Things you would use in making a Mexican Cocoa drink, minus the hot pepper. There is also a touch of pepper in the composition, but not anything that would burn the skin. Ouch!… This whole cilantro thing came from a run of experiments I did with Cilantro essential oil. It is so unusual and very true to cilantro. If you are familiar with the smell and taste of culinary cilantro (the herb), the essential oil has the same yet more intense characteristics of the plant. A very little goes a long way. and with rose it pops in the opening, yet continues to play an underlying greenish role that blends perfectly with the herbish quality of the rose. Love these technical terms. Greenish, herbish… So professional of me. Mexicali Rose will ride the fence when it comes to summer or winter. It has qualities that work well in any climate. It is somewhat transparent, yet has enough base to hold it together without falling apart or disappearing into thin air. More on this later. I am back to the lab to do more bottling. Getting ready for an outdoor festival on Saturday, and have so much still to do.

Peace & Blessings, ZZ…….
