I have spent the last two days batching perfumes, bottling and making up gift boxes for a client. I dribbled a bit of spearmint e.o. on my work bench and now it is all over me, don’t know how that happened but I smell very minty. Not to mention how scent will permeate clothing hair and whatever else is in it’s path. I needed a break so decided that I would write about what is on my mind. It has been awhile since I added a rose scent to the natural collection, and the new one is a full bodied red rose, a touch rounder and sweeter than Sinti, and it is named in honor of my precious Beacon Free. This is a perfect example of how artistry and perfume making merge. Having source inspiration that is greater than myself, greater than I could ever hope to be. I wanted to pay homage to Beacon now, while he is with us, happy, vibrant and amazing. In the short time that he has been here we have had enormous highs and earth shattering lows. It is my wish and hope to have him here for many many years. I love him with all my being, and have tried to put this love into the perfume that bears his name. It is also a way to keep myself grounded and always aware of why I chose to do this work in the first place. The love, the passion and desire to create beautiful things. I don’t know how it is for anyone else, but I feel that after reaching a certain age, one has a cut off point for ugliness. I had reached that point several years ago, and have never looked back. One of my better decisions.
