COLOGNE – The American version is often a generic word applied to bottles of mens fragrance. The concentration can run from a traditional Eau De’ Cologne with 3-5% or it can be (and is usually the case) an Eau De’ Toilette concentration at around 8-12%. Depending on how closely or loosely one follows the nomenclature, there is a lot of room to play. I have had quite a few men tell me that they will not wear anything that has the word “Perfume” on the bottle. So even if a scent is a perfume by concentration, or even a toilette, it makes sense (market wise) to call it cologne, particularly where those manly men are concerned. Explaining the hierarchy of scent concentration from the Parfum down to the body splash, is something that I do all the time. and I don’t expect that everyone be perfume speak savvy. So what does cologne mean to me, and how have I defined it for our new collection.

In the tradition of the Eau De’ Cologne, our new Natural Colognes are bright and open, sharper and more transparent than our Natural Perfumes. They are of a higher concentration than commercial colognes, due primarily to the staying power of naturals. I wanted these to at least have a four hour window as stand alone scents, and a longer window for layering. I have personally been wearing the Ylang n Pepper and the Geranium Rose Mint, and find that they last several hours on my skin. Even longer if I spray a little on the inside of my blouse, or one could also opt for the infamous Holly Hunter walk into the Mist technique. I would not do this with parfum. But a cologne is such a different animal, I don’t see the harm in it. I created them as a set of four, including: Ylang n Pepper, Lavender n Patchouli, Geranium Rose Mint and Vetiver n Guaiac. They work well as stand alone’s and are also very compatible for layering in any combination, including all four at once. Layering increases the complexity of the scents, and because the formulary isn’t so involved they do not step on each others toes. This was all intentional when I created the suite, and will be the same for future groupings within this collection.
The price point for the Cologne Suite are: Singles 1/3 ounces each spray (as shown) 18.50 Boxed Suite all four scents (as shown) 70.00.
