Jasmine Oakmoss, What To Do

I have received several emails about the new fuss over Jasmine, Oakmoss etc.Particularly the Yin Hao Jasmine that we are discontinuing. This has nothing to do with the new IFRA Guidelines. Not to mention that the jasmine used in this perfume is not listed on their website. We use several types of Jasmine, and will continue to do so. As far as Oakmoss goes, I have never used oakmoss in large measure, I instead create accords that incorporate smaller amounts of oakmoss with other materials, creating a more rich and complex structure. I have two very mossy natural accords that have no oakmoss in them at all. And the Moderne Collection perfume “Green Oakmoss” contains no real oakmoss. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how to dupe oakmoss, or even jasmine for that matter. Natural a combination of natural and man made or all man made. We will continue to trim our catalog, and make adjustments based on sales and availability of materials. We are in the process of a more detailed label for our perfumes, and as we re bottle and box we will be adding the new label to each scent. We are also in the process of readying our entire catalog for voluntary registration of our products with the FDA. The truth is, in the US, we are not governed by the guidelines of the IFRA, but rather the FDA code. As it stands now none of these materials have any restrictions for use in perfumes made and sold in America.

P.S. Forgot to mention ATF. They also have a set of rules for alcohol usage, formulary etc. But nothing in regards to banned or restricted raw materials. As with the way cosmetics are labeled today, an ingredients list is all that is really needed. And the common sense to keep it real and workable.
